Russian drone attack in Kyiv leads to deaths, widespread damage
The Kyiv City Military Administration reported on Telegram, “According to available information, three people died, including a five-year-old child. Another 10 were injured. Among the dead, a father and his little daughter.”
The airstrike alert in Kyiv lasted for over five hours, beginning at 8:39 p.m. local time (1739GMT) on Saturday, according to the statement.
The attack caused extensive damage to infrastructure, impacting residential areas in the capital’s Podilskyi, Dniprovskyi, Holosiivskyi, Desnianskyi, and Shevchenkivskyi districts.
Ukraine’s Air Force also stated that its air defense systems managed to intercept 97 out of 147 Russian drones launched across the country, with the Kyiv, Kharkiv, Sumy, Chernihiv, Odesa, and Donetsk regions also being targeted. Russian officials have yet to comment on the attacks.
