Iran’s Foreign Minister Says Trilateral Talks with Russia, China Crucial for Global Peace
In recent years, Tehran has worked to bolster its relations with Moscow and Beijing, notably joining the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in 2023 and the BRICS group in 2024. Military cooperation has also grown, with the three nations conducting joint naval exercises off Iran’s coast in March.
Amid current global tensions, Araghchi stated that closer ties with Russia and China have become “a necessity” for Iran.
“We have started trilateral talks between Iran, Russia and China on the issue of Iran’s nuclear program for some time now,” the foreign minister stated, noting that two meetings have already been conducted. “We are ready to continue these talks and expand them to other issues,” he added.
