US Launches Air, Missile Offensive on Iran
(MENAFN) The United States launched a coordinated aerial and naval assault on Iran’s nuclear infrastructure, dropping six "buster-bunker bombs" on the Fordo enrichment site and executing numerous submarine-launched cruise missile strikes on two other key locations.
The offensive, according to a report released late on Saturday, marked a major escalation targeting Iran’s nuclear development.
As reported by a news agency, President Trump elaborated on the operation during an interview. He stated that each of the "buster-bunker bombs," weighing 15 tons, was deployed by American B-2 stealth aircraft.
Additionally, 30 Tomahawk cruise missiles were launched from US submarines, striking the nuclear facilities situated in Natanz and Isfahan.
Trump had already acknowledged the operation earlier on Saturday. He said that a “full payload of” bombs had been deployed on Iran’s “primary” nuclear facility at Fordo, with supplementary strikes hitting targets in Natanz and Esfahan.
He also confirmed that all US aircraft had safely exited Iranian airspace following the mission.
“All planes are safely on their way home. Congratulations to our great American Warriors. There is not another military in the World that could have done this,” Trump posted on social media.
“NOW IS THE TIME FOR PEACE! Thank you for your attention to this matter.”
The Fordo facility, situated near the city of Qom, is a deeply buried uranium enrichment complex — Iran’s most protected site, specifically engineered to endure standard air attacks.
In the lead-up to the strikes, Tehran had issued stern warnings to the Trump administration.
Iran cautioned that any direct US intervention in its dispute with Israel would result in "irreparable consequences," emphasizing the seriousness of potential escalation.
