Trump Advocates for Russia, Ukraine Negotiations

(MENAFN) US Leader Donald Trump considers a negotiated settlement the only practical option to bring an end to the ongoing hostilities between Russia and Ukraine, as conveyed by State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce.

Trump’s initiatives aimed at facilitating a ceasefire between the two nations played a role in the resumption of direct discussions in Türkiye last month.

These dialogues had previously been abandoned by Kiev in 2022, as Ukraine shifted its focus toward military strategies.

On Friday, Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasized that although Moscow does not demand an “unconditional surrender,” Ukraine needs to accept the “realities on the ground.”

He further warned that Kiev’s position at the negotiating table becomes weaker with every passing day.

During a media briefing on Friday, Bruce was questioned whether Putin’s comments suggest that Moscow lacks genuine commitment to the negotiations, and how the US government intends to respond to that perspective.
